Goldpine sawn timber and plywood are ideal for fencing, yarding, farm maintenance, shed interiors, landscaping and other outdoor projects. Our wide range of high quality sawn timber is all treated to H3 and H4.
There are a variety of grades available suitable for any outdoor project. For example:
- No 1 and No 2 framing grade
- Merchant and industrial grade
- Battens
- Square posts
- Palings and capping
- Decking
- Plywood
Treatment Guide
It is important to understand the different treatment levels of timber so that you choose the correct timber for your project. The treatment levels vary according to internal or external uses or whether your project will involve ground contact or water immersion.

Typical Uses |
H1 |
|
Inside:
For internal use where the timber will not be exposed to the ground or to the weather . |
- Framing Timber
- Ceiling Battens
- Sarking
- Flooring

| H3.2 |
|
Outside:
For wood exposed to the weather and in ground contact. |
- Decking
- Fence battens
- Garden furniture
- Trellis
|
| H4 |
|
In ground:
For wood exposed to the weather and in ground contact. Non structural use.

|
| H5 |
|
In ground structural:
For wood exposed to the weather, in ground and fresh water contact; and in high risk, load-bearing applications. |
- House piles
- Retaining walls
- Veranda supports
- Horticulture
- Viticulture
|
| H6 |

Marine:
For permanent salt water immersion.

Plywood
Goldpine introduces the Innovision Ecoply range of structural plywood. The Ecoply brand represents plywood derived from a plantation pine based renewable resource and inherent qualities of:
- durability
- strength
- diversity in use
Ecoply structural plywood has many uses from residential, commercial and industrial construction, claddings, bracing and internal linings, farm and agricultural uses, furniture and joinery, packaging, materials handling, transport and many other industries and applications.
Ecoply structural plywood is a layered panel made from radiata pine cross directional veneer giving superior strength.
Purpose
Innovision Ecoply structural plywoods are for general structural use and can be detailed to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code and Building Code of Australia in relation to Structure, Durability, Fire, Moisture and Energy Efficiency.

User Information
Veneer and knots
The veneer peeled from the logs may contain characteristics such as knots or splits. Knots have a significant effect on the tensile and bending strength of veneer, however, most applications of plywood in bending are governed by the stiffness or flexibility rather than strength. Knots have only a small influence on stiffness and so knotty plywood can be used for many applications. Knots can be removed and replaced with wood or synthetic patches to enhance appearance. The size of knots and other characteristics is controlled by grading into different qualities.
Plywood
The glues used to bond the veneers together are synthetic phenolic resins which are set and cured by heat and pressure under controlled conditions to form a strong and durable bond. Ecoply can be used for any application requiring strength, stiffness and durability, and may be specified for its aesthetic qualities or because of its origins in a renewable resource. The choice depends on the application.

Preservative Treatment
Ecoply plywood if treated is impregnated to H3 hazard class with either CCA or LOSP treatments to MP 3640, “Specification of the minimum requirements of the New Zealand Timber Preservation Council Inc.” H3 hazard class is described as: “Timber or plywood may be exposed to the weather, or used as the exterior covering of buildings, or as exterior joinery, but will not be in contact with the ground.” CCA waterborne preservative is used on standard Ecoply plywood. It has a green colour, and is dried following treatment to ensure sheets return to the correct dimensions and are at a moisture content suited to use in building. The fillets used to separate sheets in drying may leave marks on the sheet surface. These fade after a time, and are easily covered with paint.
